With the official name of sansevieria tough lady, you know this plant will survive pretty much anything. Its striped leaves grow out from a central point, so it looks a bit like the top of a pineapple, but it is part of the Snake Plant family
For the most part, this plant prefers to just be left alone. Forgot to water it? No problem. Left it in a shady spot? That’s ok. It’s very low maintenance, although it will grow quicker in a sunny spot and if you give it a monthly dose of diluted liquid fertiliser in spring and summer. If you’re looking for an easy plant to get you going, a sansevieria ‘tough lady’ is the perfect place to start.
Did you know?
When the temperature cools at night, a snake plant’s pores open, releasing all the oxygen it’s been holding in.
