With her glossy green leaves and lush yellow fruits, Vivi the Lemon Tree has quickly become a favourite at Patch. An absolute stunner to complete that Mediterranean vibe.
Phoebe the Canary Island date palm is a great all-rounder — she’s just as happy indoors as she is outside. Her sturdy, arching green stems will give your space that cool tropical look, and her easy-going personality means she’s perfect for the novice plant parent.
Mae the Chamaerops humilis (a.k.a the ‘European fan palm’) is an all-round people-pleaser — she's been our most popular plant at Patch since we launched in 2016. With her statement leaves and her carefree nature, she had to be in our top 10.
Fats the Fatsia japonica is an almost unkillable plant who will thrive under almost any condition. Bonus: this handsome guy will blossom beautiful, dandelion-like clusters of white flowers in autumn.
Laura the bay pyramid, has been a beloved plant for centuries. The ancient Greeks and the ancient Romans considered it quite the status symbol. Wreaths of bay laurel were worn on the heads of the most important members of society and given as prizes in sporting competitions. Bay was a plant for champions so it had to make our Top 10.
Fergie is a variegated version of one of our other favourites, Fats. She’s a little bit slower growing, however, she’s become hugely popular around the world for her impressive glossy leaves. In summer, you should also see her bloom with small white flowers, then possibly little (inedible) black fruits.
There’s something very luxurious about having your own lime tree. Given enough sun and water this handsome tree, Leon, will produce lots of bright green, edible fruit. White flowers, which smell wonderful, will start to appear in spring, followed by fruit, which should be ready to pick at the end of summer.
There can hardly be a person in the UK who isn’t familiar with this plant. They grow up buildings, trees and anything else they can get their rootlets on. They thrive in any light conditions, so are suitable for any home!
